Initiate The Quest
This quest is initiated once Geralt speaks to the Eternal Fire Priest located on the northeastern island of Velen. Note that the closest teleportation point is at Mulbrydale. This priest will be in a sort of despair while standing outside the Devil's Pit, which is an abandoned mine. After negotiating the exchange of services with the priest, Geralt will be tasked with killing whatever creature or people are haunting the mine.
Go Into The Mine
Geralt will receive a key to the mine from the priest. Once obtained, players will proceed to the entrance of the mine, where they will see a corpse on the ground. Investigating this body will give players a hint of what's ahead of them. Players will then continue to the entrance and will encounter some bandits; there are five Level 9 bandits waiting outside. When players defeat these enemies, they are able to freely move through the mine's entry point.
Players will then have the option of searching the location for extra information; this extra information includes a note which is written by Reinald. This note will describe who haunts the mine and Reinald's hypothesis for their purpose. Players will then direct Geralt further along the mine's path. Keep in mind that the mine is poorly lit, so the use of a lantern or torch would be beneficial. Geralt will stumble upon a wooden bridge.
Using his Witcher senses, Geralt will be able to reveal a ruined brick wall. Once destroyed, players will examine the corpse that lies behind it. Players will also be able to investigate another corpse located within the walls of the opposite brick wall.
Players will move deeper into the mine until they enter a laboratory. There, they will examine the Forgotten Priest's Testament. As players continue, a voice will warn players to turn back. At this point, it is recommended that players meditate and replenish any necessary items for combat. A pit will be the next obstacle in the mine. Have Geralt jump into the pit in order to fight four Level 14 Plague Victims.
Players will then proceed to the small door where they will find a note inside; this note gives players information pertaining to the boss fight of this quest. Continue along the mine's path and through the double doors. Be wary of any remaining Plague Victims.
Free And Defeat Reinald
The double doors are the entry point for Reinald's prison. Players will be required to free Reinald using Aard. Players will also have the option between giving the possessed being Reinald's Philter or not. Note that Reinald's Philter is a potion crafted from one Dwarven Spirit, four Celandine, and one Reinald's Content.
At this point, Geralt will be required to fight the possessed Reinald. Because Reinald uses a combination of sword and sign attacks, the best way to defeat this boss would be to swiftly attack after deflecting an enemy attack. Note that players should avoid attacking Reinald when his red bubble shield is activated.
Once Reinald is defeated, the Red Miasmal will leave his body and the second phase of the battle will be initiated. During this phase, players are encouraged to use a combination of light and heavy attacks. Note that this enemy will send out smaller Level 14 enemies that produce a higher ranged attack. The defeat of Red Miasmal will indicate the completion of this side quest and reveal the rewards for the endeavor.
Rewards
Players will receive the diagram for the Forgotten Wolven equipment set, which is Geralt's armor set seen in Netflix's series The Witcher. This set includes the Forgotten Wolven armor, the Forgotten Wolven boots, the Forgotten Wolven gauntlets, the Forgotten Wolven silver sword, and the Forgotten Wolven steel sword. The completion of this side quest will also begin a scavenger hunt called "Forgotten Wolf School Gear."
The Next-Gen Update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt brings many new experiences for not just the players, but for Witcher fans as well. Designers were able to incorporate elements from the television series into the game by offering the retrieval of the Forgotten Wolven equipment. In fact, many alternate appearances for armor have been added to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt based off of the television show.
